Died at Northland in Port Colborne, on Tuesday, October 6.1998. Alice is survived by her sister Mary I Miller, Niagara Falls and 2. nieces, Anna Spice (Edward) and Jean Miller -Harding (Kent).

Daughter of the late Ambrose (1958) and seas Elizabeth during (1974) World War Bennett. I and Her while parents her went father over- was with the Canadian Forces in France her mother and sister went to Dalbeattie, Scotland, where Alice was born. After the war the returned to Canada and resided in Niagara Falls. She graduated from NFCVI. In 1941 she was called to Ottawa and assumed her duties in the Department of National Defence for 4 years.

She then went to New York City and South America with the British Security Co-ordination. When World War Ill ended, she returned to Ottawa and joined the Department of External Affairs, now known as the Department of Foreign Affairs, and remained until her retirement in December, 1980. While in that department she was posted to the Canadian Consulate General in New York City and twice to the Canadian High Commission in London, England. After retiring she remained in Ottawa until 1992, then took up residence in Niagara Falls. She was a member of the Federal Superannuates National Association (Ottawa Branch); also a pioneer member of the Ottawa Civil Service Recreational Association and of the Greater Niagara Senior Citizen's Association.

Funeral services were held from the funeral chapel of HETHERINGTON and DEANS Victoria Avenue in Niagara Falls (905-354-5614). It was the wish of Alice that there be no visiting or flowers. A private graveside service at Fairview Cemetery took place on Wednesday, October 7, 1998, where she was placed next to the graves of her father and mother. Miss Bennett had Parkinson's Disease and was a member of the Living with Parkinson's Program. Contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Nick was the deeply loved husband and partner of Danielle (Groven), the beloved son of Ruth Harley of Ottawa, and the late Claude Fraser. Loving stepfather of Christian Pavey.

Cherished also by his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Richard Gwyn; brother and sister-inlaw Rory and Jane Harley; nephews Cristopher and Michael Harley; best friends Jerry and Helen O'Brien; goddaughter Sarah O'Brien; her sister Jayne, and David and Annette Grier. Nick studied at St. Mary's University in Halifax and graduated from Dalhousie in 1963. He served as a sub-lieutenant in RCNR, and was in charge of public relations at the legendary Ontario pavilion at Expo '67. He joined Foster Advertising in Montreal in 1969 as an account executive, later became creative director there, and in 1986, vice-president in Toronto.

In 1991, he was appointed a senior vicepresident of McCann-Erickson Worldwide based in London, England, and flourished in that position until early this summer. Nick was never happier than when messing around in boats, above all at the wheel of his sloop Killick. His many friends, in Canada and overseas, will remember his quicksilver humour, innate courtesy and exceptional charm.
